Over the past 7 years, I have worked directly with different customers and utilities with diverse range of complex interconnection and PV plant controller requirement including but not limited to Voltage/PF/Var/KW regulation using intelligent control of PV inverters, Capacitor Banks, Load Tap Changers and Energy Storage Systems.

On all the projects, I was either co-owner or the sole owner of the control systems design and coding. I also designed the test document and also trained onsite and O&M engineers on plant controls. Here is a list of all the projects:

Solar Star 1 and 2 (Combined 650 MW)

  • One of the world's largest solar site. I was co-owner of plant controller and designed the control logic for controller PV inverters, capacitor banks and load tap changer to regulate voltage, PF and real/reactive power.

  • Also developed a new product, PV Tracker Controller which is vendor agnostic and can stow PV trackers based on local windspeed.

Bonny Brooke (55 MW) and Churchill (19 MW)

  • Two apple projects where I was the lead and sole owner of the control system.

  • Worked closely with utility and customer to come up with unique solution on plants controls. Control schemes deployed here

​Redstone Arsenal (11 MW PV, 1 MW Storage), Vandenburg AFB (27 MW), Nellis AFB (20 MW) and China Lake (12 MW):

  • Worked on various projects as owner of the control systems where primary control scheme deployed was Non Export Controls. 

  • At Redstone Arsenal project I developed a controller which managed both storage and PV along with cap banks to regulate real power, PF and voltage.

Micro-Grid Project

  • Worked closely with SDG&E on this micro grid project and came up with smart PV control schemes to support microgrid mode using 27 MW PV, 1 MW Diesel Genset, ultra cap banks and 1 MW Energy Storage. Here is a link on details:

Energy Storage Project

  • Interfaced closely with JCI Engineers to come up with a scheme to seamlessly integrate SunPower PV controls with JCI storage controls. 

Boulder 1 (100 MW) and Boulder 2 (50 MW)

  • Worked as owner of control system design

  • Also developed a new product, Capacitor Bank Controller which is vendor agnostic and can intelligently control and manage capacitor bank stages (both symmetrical and asymmetrical).

Mulilo Project in Prieska, South Africa (84 MW)

  • Worked as co-owner of control system and worked with local utility and testing company Eskom and RETEC. 

  • The interconnection requirements were quite different and more stricter than USA.

Uterne II - Alice Springs, Australia (2.7 MW):

  • Largest PV Project in Australia. 

  • Worked as sole owner of control system.
